Beware what you wish for.......
In my last post I was saying how much I was lamenting that I didn't think I wasn't gonna get to the drive-in this summer. Well,my teen asked me to take her friend to the drive-in. It was an absolutely beautiful warm evening with all the stars out and a bright full moon...and we watched Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid.
I wish there was a better movie playing, but frankly this was the best movie playing (ah, the Dog Days of summer movies). The movie I wanted to see, Hero, was not playing there and I made the mistake to mentioning that that film had subtitles, so it was the snake movie for us!
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it was still bad. Let's leave it at that. The co-feature was The Village, which of course I saw already, but the girls didn't. It was kinda of nice to watch it again to see if I could see any clues about the ending, but I didn't see any that were totally noticeable. On the way home we talked about the whats and whys of it, which is what I liked about the film. To me any film that provokes discussion afterward is a worthwhile film to see.
Sunday we just kicked around the house and I watched The Sox sweep The Tigers and come within 4 1/2 games of The Empire, which is amazing given that 2-3 weeks ago they were 10 1/2 games out. This upcoming week is going to be the most important week of the season with 3 vs. The Angels and 3 vs. The Rangers, which are nipping at The Sox heels for the wild card.
Gonna be a short week at The Gulag tomorrow to stay home with The Girls the day before school starts up again for them and off again Friday to go to WorldCon. I think I can deal with 3 days this week, especially with 4 days off afterward.

Go see "Hero"! If you liked "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", I think you'll really enjoy this...even with subtitles.
