And a special thanx to Sports Illustrated for putting both the Sox and the Cubs on the cover 2 weeks ago.
Ok I can talk about it now....
I'm pissed off. To me this was worse then '86 mostly because I was not as into the Sox as I am now. Plus this wasn't an physical error by a player of a pretty evenly matched game. This was a game where the Sox were clearly the best team on the field and hey gave it away.
But, really, what else can be said? Grady kept Pedro in too long because he was either too afraid to piss off his ace or he didn't have faith in his bullpen, which I do not believe.
And, frankly, as great of job that Grady has done, the Sox need a manager that stands up to the superstars and take charge of the team. Granted, Sox management is just as guilty as the manager is about babying Pedro, but Grady has a target on his back right now. The Sox brass would be nuts of give him contract extension anytime soon, so Grady is going to dangle without a contract for a while longer they either let this game blow over (yeah, right) or find other manager.
Will I watch the World Series now? I'll check in on it, but I won't go out of my way for it until Florida is whacking the ball around the Yankees.
