Yesterday's News
Yesterday I was very much surprised by a birthday party that the wife and kids sprung on me. (Of course when there are 6 cars in front of your house when you come home the jumping out the back of furniture thing is not as effective.) It made me feel great and special that my family and friends did this for me. Thanks all......I really needed it.
It was very sad that I found out when I got up this morning that Christopher Reeve died. Until the 1995 accident that left him paralyzed, he was just a very good actor that just had a hard time "shaking off the cape". But the courage he showed during his ordeal was amazing. Reading his book Still Me is one of only 2 books that made me cry (The Teammates being the other). I would highly recommend it, but it's out of print, but I'm sure it will be reprinted in paperback soon.
Another person that died yesterday was baseball player Ken Caminiti. He was highly admired by all baseball fans in his playing days, but he'll be best known for admitting his use of Steroids and addiction to cocaine, which probably contributed to his heart failure at only age 41. Add the fact he never won a thing after all that. Let's hope at the very least his death will show current and future players that his fate is the only certainty in sports.
