Yeah, it's been a while....
...but I really haven't really had much to say.
I'm still out of work although I have an interview this week. I spend about 3-4 hours a day going through the want ads and it's been depressing as there is even less out there than there was 7-8 months ago before I started at FastChannel. And it's amazing how many sleazy job web sites there are out there that prey on the desperate asking for $29.95 and more for the chance of employment.
As for the Red Sox, after several days of thinking, and as much as it hurts to admit it, I came to the conclusion that it's in the best interest that Grady is retained as manager next year, even though it'll be murder to see him come out of that dugout next spring.
Why? Several reasons.....
1) You cannot ignore the fact that the man won 190 games in 2 seasons.
2) As painful as the one mistake he made last week, he made several brilliant moves in the postseason, some of which helped the team climb out of the 2 game hole to beat the A's in 5.
and most importantly.....
3) frankly, there isn't anyone out there in the managerial market that I feel would do a better job. Mike Hargrove? He quit on the Orioles half was through the season. Bobby Valentine? He's an asshole, plain and simple.
If Grady comes back next season, it'll be a tough one for him, but it's better than what's out there unless the Yankees lose the series and Steinbrenner fires Torre.
