Kessa and The Hey go to White Castle

In lurking and reading Towaway's blog entry about a Sonic coming to his town, I had a somewhat similar experience last weekend. I also know where he is coming from as a Quizno's came to my area code 2 months ago after I discovered them in San Diego last summer and surprisingly I haven't eaten there on a daily basis since.

Kessa and I went to I-Con this past weekend and we had a really good time. On the way there, I saw something I have not seen in person in years - a White Castle. Not only have I not have White Castle Burgers in nearly a decade, but also as a big fan of the film Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, I was extremely excited to see it and was looking forward to partake of a slider or 14. However, we were in kinda a hurry to get to the con and the fact that is was 9 in the morning, I decided to wait until we hit the road on the way back home the next day.

The next day we had lunch at the campus where the convention was held just before we headed home, but I figured I'd grab a small slider meal on the way home to relive what I have been missing all these years. I pulled in the drive thru and order a #1 (4 sliders, fries and diet coke) and was all excited about biting into my first slider.

Then I ate one.

It wa
s horrible. The meat looked and tasted like it came from a school cafeteria - from 5 years ago. There were hardly any condiments on the bun. It was really bad....and the smell of it was stinking up the car. I felt really bad for Kessa as she doesn't eat fast food or red meat at all and was probably more sick of the smell of the food as I was. The only thing I enjoyed from that meal were the fries - I least they were what I remember.

I'm thinking that either I just had a bad experience or it's been so long I didn't know better. The next time I go by one, I'll probably try one again. But needless to say I was really disappointed.
