Yeah, we got your Daddy RIGHT HERE!!!!

Unbelievable.

The unthinkable happened. I'm still in near denial. But it's true. The Sox beat The Empire to go to The Series. Not only did they beat them, they came within 3 outs of losing it all in Game 4, came back and won that game and proceeded to win the next 3 in a row, including 2 in the most hostile environment possible.

This whole series played out just like an old WWF Hulk Hogan championship wrestling match script from the 80s. At first Hogan would get a few licks in, but then he would start really getting his ass kicked up and down the canvas. Then about a little more than halfway through the match, just when his opponent would make what might be the closing blow to finish him off, Hogan all of a sudden would grab the guy's fist with one hand, wave his finger at him with the other and start shaking his head as if to say "No. No. No. I don't
think so." Then he would proceed to pummel him into submission and finish him off with a piledriver from the top turnbuckle. With an almost comical 10-3 score, Game 7 was The Sox getting up on that top turnbuckle and slamming down on The Empire's throat with their elbow.

Going through New York to get to The Series makes this all the more incredible and I would hate to harp on The Empire's woes too much (
snicker...), but what has really made this truly sweet is that in this series, A-Rod ("the next Babe Ruth") has been exposed as the primadonna whinny fraud that he is. As I, of course, wanted to get him last offseason and was disappointed that we didn't like everyone else, but I am so glad now that it didn't happen. We really saw it for real back in July with his tussle with Varitek what kind of the jerk his truly is. I have no doubt that we would not be where we are now with him on the team. I think this the media here and the center of attention he would have become, he would have been as sour and self-centered a teammate than that other shortstop we used to have if not more and we would have to deal with it for 7 seasons because noone would have taken him and his $25 million a season salary. Of course we should have seen this when both his former teams got better after he left. In fact, I'm sure with no A-Rod and getting a "re-committed" Manny, The Rangers would have at least won the wild card over The Sox, if not the AL West.

Now tonight we have to see if we will be playing the Cardinals or the Astros. I really hope that we play Houston as St. Louis' bats scare me to death and it would be fitting to have to go through Roger Clemens to get to the promised land. If The Sox lose The Series, we will all be back lamenting about the 86 year drought, but win or lose this has been easily the best baseball season in my lifetime.

Bring it on.
