I'm writing an entry in my blog at work. Doesn't THAT tell you something?
What basically I do here is do technical support for products that have been discontinued for at least 3 years and the bulk of the calls I receive are from folks that pick these products up from flea markets and EBay and try to use them with their brand new PC that the product was not designed for. The company basically keeps this department alive for more of a good will gesture than anything, which I guess counts for something.
This not all that bad. The people I work with are very nice. My supervisor likes me and enjoys my contribution, such as it is. I guess the most fustrating things are the hours (10am-7pm, which makes it impossible to take any evening classes I might want to take), the commute (50+ miles each way) and that there is no growth at all and what I learn is basically old technology.
Also what pains me is the fact that I'm not really an employee of this company - I'm a "contract" person that this company uses, which means no benefits. (I don't need things like medical because the Mrs. has them with her job, but paid days off would be nice.....)
I'm still sending out resumes and going on interviews (in fact I have one this week) and still trying my best. I just want to be able to enjoy what I do and make a decent wage.
Back to work.......
