L'Affair Nomar

Ok. This might be getting a bit much.

Alot of speculation has come up in the aftermath of the trade of Nomar. The latest is that there are reports that Nomar came to Fort Myers already injured before Spring Training playing Soccer. This is in addition to The Sox dropping dimes to the media about Nomar's mood and what was and wasn't said and he request to be traded to the Dodgers instead of the White Sox, the constant smirk Nomar has had on his face since Sunday and all the Boston media writing column after column of assertions and conjecture.

All I know is that he's gone and it's EVERYONE'S fault. It's Nomar's fault that he didn't either just take the money offered or ask to be traded way back in the off-season and then take longer to get on the field than his teammate that broke a bone did. It's The Sox front office's fault that they didn't do anything about this sooner as it was painfully obvious to everyone that he no longer wanted to be here unless he was overpaid to do so. (I knew that he didn't want any part of Boston BEFORE the A-Rod trade and it The Sox knew that as well - in fact, IMHO, I think we wanted out of Boston before the team was sold.) But what needs to happen is what Theo has been saying for a few days now.

Let it go - at least for now.

But his bosses won't let it. They are so media consensus that they want to make sure The Nation and the world know that Nomar wanted to be traded. He wanted out of Boston. He might have been injured before Spring Training. He took his time coming back onto the field. He told them that he might had to go on to the DL in the middle of the pennant race.

While most of this is probably true - especially after seeing that "Problem? What problem?" news conference he had in Denver Tuesday night - they could have waited until after the season to make these points, when he out there looking for a deal from the highest bidder. Nomar's keeping his mouth shut knowing that saying anything now might cost him in free agency. But rest assured once he gets his big money contract this off season he's gonna blast The Sox with both barrels. But The Sox want to make sure they fire first so they don't get blasted on WEEI all day from now until the Patriots opener.

Well, guess what? If they do not make the playoffs this season they are gonna get blasted on WEEI. Big time. For months. Even if the Pats get to the Super Bowl again. Especially if the Cubs make the playoffs.

Let's see if the removal of this dark cloud helps in the clubhouse and get the team to start, oh I don't know, a winning streak? Managing and coaching errors have been the issue with since Nomar left, not defense and not the shortstop. This manager is toast if they do not make the post-season. So he and his bosses need to move on and get some wins.
