Four for Eighty-Six
I'm numb.
If you told me in July when The Sox playing .500 ball were gonna go all the way, I would asked if you forgot to take your meds.
That's what makes this magical year all the more sweeter because there were so many things that happened to this team along the way that in most cases should have flattened them emotionally. There were half a dozen times during the season that it looked like the season was over. They were as close to roadkill as you can get in July when the Yankees swept them.
But they never quit. Never gave up. In hindsight we should have seen that comeback in the ALCS last week coming. A lot of times they had more faith than we did.
We have seen years where The Sox won the Division easily and by out of the playoffs in 3 or 4 games. But if they won it all with one of those teams it wouldn't have felt as good as this year does.
This has been the greatest baseball season I have ever lived through. Let's hope that the organization can keep most of these idiots around for next season and do it again.
