Stiller want to see DodgeBall
On more than a few web sites there seems to be alot of backlash toward Ben Stiller and the movie he stars in this weekend DodgeBall.
I guess this stems mostly from the fact that not only is this his 4th movie of the year so far (with 2 more scheduled to be released before Christmas), but also the fact that he's been on numerous talk shows and the like on every single one of these films, including presenting an Oscar with Owen Wilson to promote Starsky and Hutch.
I do see that this might be a case of overexposure, but the fact of the matter is that I think that Ben Stiller is one of the funniest people in movies today and his short-lived TV show was one of the best TV shows never seen.
I wasn't too thrilled with Starsky and I have not seen Along Came Polly yet, but I cannot wait to see "DodgeBall" and it has nothing to do with Mr. Stiller.
I want to see "Dodgeball" simply because I really need to see a stupid comedy with alot of physical humor right now. (I know I'm a sick puppy, but I watch this clip whenever I need a pick me up).
And what better director can there be for a movie like this than Rawson Marshall Thurber. Never heard of him? Neither have I. But I DO know that he directed the hysterically funny Terry Tate: Office Linebacker commercials. 'nuff said.
Will DodgeBall be the best movie (or even funniest) movie of the summer? Probably not. But nothing's better than a few rubber balls (and a wrench or two) to the groin (and head...and gut...and head again) to forget about life for a while.
