Jinxing? We don't need no stinkin' Jinxing!!
I finally had my interview for my dream job today and I think I did pretty well. The first round was with several people on one end of a conference room and me on the other and 90% of it was the 5 people taking turns asking specific questions they asked all the interviewees, mostly questions of how I would handle certain situations. They seemed pretty impressed with my answers, especially the person that I would report to who is an important person to impress in these situations.
It was, overall, a very surreal experience because the position and the interview was in a school I spent 4 years of my childhood in the mid-70s. The school, for the most part, looks the same as I remember it almost 30 years ago. Even the Auditorium I showed many, many movies to raise money looked the same.
It was also the school where I first ever touched a computer and got immediately hooked. That's why I call it a dream job for me. I really like helping and teaching people (and kids) with computers up close and personal instead of over a phone line. It's exciting to think that kids might have an interest in computers based on what I show and teach them.
I think it's just would fitting that I would be able to end my career and retire where I first got the itch for computing. Make no mistake about it - if I got this job, I would be very happy career-wise until retirement and never pick up a want-ad ever again.
I hoping I'm not jinxing it by posting it here, but I have a good feeling about it. It just feels right.

Sorry to hear about Sonny. :(
Good luck on getting this job. Sounds like it would be perfect, and as you said, could bring your work life full circle. Very cool.
