One Down, One to Go
Well tonight was the end(for now) of one of my beloved SF "passions" - Star Trek - and next week will be the end of the saga of my other - Star Wars.
And let's hope the latter goes out better than the former.
Tonight's finale of Enterprise was not only insulting to the fans of that particular series and all Trek fans in general but also to the cast who, despite their efforts to make it a good series unlike many behind the scenes, were basically crapped upon by having characters from another "more popular" Trek series in their domain in what was their swan song. There were many flaws in Enterprise, but this cast was certainly not one of them. Not even the cast of Voyager had to endure such an insult.
What makes it worse is that this series was finally finding it's way story wise, thanks mostly to writer Manny Coto. But it was too little too late - when you are a series getting beat by cable channels with half the available audience, it's over. And going out the way they went out tonight was just pathetic - it took the focus away from the people that spent 4 years on the series.
Just had to get that out. I hope Rick Berman saved his money - otherwise he's gonna be waiting tables at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles in a few years.
