Jelly boring post comin'.......

Well, it was a pretty low key weekend, around here. I'm sorry that I didn't go to Shore Leave, but in the long run I'm glad I didn't put 800 miles on an old car. Basically I just didn't think I would have missed going with all the other things I have going on this summer (like the AAA All Star Game festivities that start tonight!!!). But I had such a miserable week at The Gulag I thought that Shore Leave was just what I needed. But all I really needed was some time at home. Basically all we did this weekend was go bowling and run errands and took a few naps and that was good enough for me. I checked in with Bismo a few times during the weekend to see how everything was going, so again I was there in spirit.

I have to admit at was I reminded by Capn Ho that I, like him, was getting a little homesick for the family about half way through the con last year as well.

Will I plan on going next year? In my last post I said I would, but now I'll have to say maybe. I had forgotten that I am planning to go take the little one to Indianapolis next April for The Star Wars Celebration Con, her first really big convention. She would have loved being at Star Wars Weekend at Disney World last May when I went down for my niece's wedding and from all the fans I met that day they couldn't speak highly enough about the last Celebration in both content and family friendliness. Who knows? I may do both as Shore Leave, if planned properly, can be a inexpensive con.

Speaking of the AAA All Star Game festivities, today I decided to play Hooky (again) from The Gulag as I want to get to McCoy Stadium early to grab some space in the right field berm to catch some balls during the Home Run Derby. Tomorrow's outdoor events in downtown Providence go on continuously from 5pm until 10pm (although the forecast calls for rain - at least there is a big mall next door to duck into if that happens) and we have reserved seats for the game itself on Wednesday so I don't mind getting there later for those events.

That's about it....my next post will have our experiences (and maybe a few pictures) of tonight's events.
