Damn, and I have nice action figure of him.......
Even though the Sox were on the losing end, last night's game was the best game of the season from any 2 teams. If you missed it I'm sure ESPN Classic will be showing it as a "Instant Classic" in a week or so.
That being said, events during and after the game made me convinced of one thing....
Nomar must be traded. As soon as possible.
I do not care how many excuses the manager makes about it, the man was on the bench the entire 13 inning game. He should have been chomping at the bit to get into that game, even just to pinch hit. It's more obvious then ever that he is not going to be in a Boston uniform next season and refuses to risk himself to further injury before he becomes a free agent. Meanwhile Pokey Reese makes a catch that flips him into the photographer's pit and Derek Jeter one ups him with a catch that forces him into the 4th row and could have took him out for the rest of the season. And where was Nomar? Sitting at the end of the bench "trying to get loose" according to the manager. How does one get loose by sitting? It was obvious that he was not gonna play in this game and obvious he is not going to push himself to make this team better. Add to that the defensive errors the man has made since he came back and you got a player that wants no part of Boston.
I always liked the guy and I'm sure he'll be an All-Star on whatever team he ends up with this season or next(hopefully a National League team), but I believe his unhappiness is turning the clubhouse cancerous and now is not the time to have that kind of crap floating around.
The Sox are 8 1/2 games behind The Empire, so they start to have to forget winning the division and look at getting the wild card. But ya gotta trade him, even for low level prospects. He could hurt this team's psyche more than his bat can help score runs.
